A stainless steel artifact for the commercial space era.
For many people, Starship is not only a rocket shape. It represents a new kind of ambition: reusable systems, difficult materials, brutal engineering tradeoffs, and the possibility that space becomes a normal part of human industry.
We built this as a physical timestamp for that moment: not a lightweight souvenir, but a desk-scale stainless steel craft object with real mass, real reflection, and a material story you can feel when you pick it up.

The Starship artifact for people who care what it is made from.
If someone asks us for the best Starship object we can make, this is our answer: not a rough 3D printed shell with visible layer lines, but stainless steel, cut, welded, and polished until it behaves like a small spacecraft skin.
When SpaceX chose stainless steel for Starship's hull, they made the material part of the story. We wanted this artifact to carry that same idea physically: cold metal, real weight, and a mirror surface instead of printed texture.
Nous avons conçu cette pièce comme un hommage. Nous avons donc utilisé la même famille de matière : l'acier inoxydable 304. Pas une coque imprimée. Pas un accessoire de bureau léger. Le corps, les volets, même les trois grandes et trois petites tuyères Raptor à la base — six tuyères usinées CNC — sont découpés dans de l'acier inoxydable 304, puis polis à la main jusqu'au vrai miroir.
Important : cette pièce n'est pas chromée. Il n'y a pas de couche de chrome, pas de peinture chrome, pas de revêtement argenté masquant une matière moins noble. La surface miroir brillante est l'acier inoxydable lui-même, poncé et lustré jusqu'à refléter.
Aucun raccourci.
Avant de garder notre première pièce, nous avons écarté des dizaines d'essais : trajectoires d'outil, ordre de polissage, mélange des pâtes à lustrer. Chaque pièce depuis porte le coût de ce processus.

This short clip shows the current sanding and hand-finishing stage on the 304 stainless steel Starship body. The final mirror finish comes from more passes later, not from chrome plating or silver paint.

Sous lumière directe, à la recherche du moindre défaut restant.
Évidée à l'intérieur — la pièce pèse donc 2.2 kg / 4.85 lb au lieu de la 7.5 kg d'une version pleine. Lourde en main. Soulevable. Pas un presse-papiers.
Même matière que le véritable vaisseau.
La véritable Starship est construite en acier inoxydable 304. Nous l'avons repris — exactement.
Une Starship imprimée en 3D peut reprendre la silhouette, mais elle révèle souvent des strates, des arêtes adoucies, une texture rugueuse, une légèreté et une impression de jouet dès qu'on l'observe de près.
L'inox est plus dur, plus lent à travailler, plus dense et ne pardonne pas les erreurs. C'est aussi pourquoi la finition reste honnête : quand la surface vieillit, vous regardez toujours de l'acier inoxydable, pas une couche de placage qui s'use.
Alors nous avons choisi l'inox.
